Intimidation

According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the diet industry generated over 40 billion dollars last year, while our fitness industry did approximately 8.5 billion according to IHRSA (International Health & Racquet Sports Association). Why? Why would the people who perhaps need the services of a health club more apt to spend their money in diet centers?

Intimidation

Studies show the average person who signs up for a diet program will spend an average of $1,500.00 per year. This is based on the fact that they will probably go back to the diet center at least twice in a years time. Let’s face it- you will lose weight on any short term diet temporarily (of course, part of the weight you lose will be water and muscle tissue).

The American College of Sports Medicine and the American Medical Association have recognized the importance of strength training in permanent weight control. The problem is that most fitness programs in most fitness facilities are designed for the already fit market and tend to intimidate the overweight market. Not PACE! PACE is non-intimidating, very user-friendly and very effective!

The “Group Dynamics” of a PACE Program is also very appealing to the overweight or deconditioned market. Group support is a key element in several national weight loss programs because it works; people who share a common problem can emphasize with each other and encourage each other. (And it’s very common for them to bring in their friends for workouts).

It should also be noted that Weight-Management Programs are often the highest revenue-producing programs in fitness centers. Our PACE Weight-Management Program takes the guess work out of starting a program for your club!
