This is a question that every wise fitness
professional must ask when considering starting
a new fitness program or buying new equipment.
The proper question, however, should not be
how much will it cost, but how much profit
will I make from it? The revenue generated
from a PACE Group Exercise Program™ will depend
on how it is marketed to existing members
and potential new clients. The following are
a few examples of how PACE has been marketed
successfully in fitness facilities across
the country:
Women Only Health Clubs:
These types of clubs account for the majority
of the sales of PACE and are amoung the most
profitable types of clubs in the fitness industry
percentage-wise. Typically, these clubs charge
a one time signup fee and monthly dues of
$29-$39.00 on a one or two year membership.
Many clubs have well over 300 members on this
type of contract. In addition, many clubs
offer month-to-month memberships with a signup
fee and significantly higher monthly dues
($15-$20/month). These memberships offer the
option to cancel anytime with a 30 day notice
and are used as a "hook" introductory membership
for reluctant prospects. Often, an option
to convert to an annual membership is given
in the first few weeks. Other programs can
be used in women's clubs or in full service
clubs:
Weight-Management Programs:
This type of program has historically been
the highest profit-producing program when
used with a PACE Program. Many clubs have
packaged it with a nutrition program and sold
separate short-term PACE Only Weight-Management
memberships. We have seen prices range from
$199 for 6 weeks to $299 for 12 weeks depending
on the type of program and services offered.
If you do some competitive shopping at your
local diet centers, you will see that these
prices are very competitive; the overweight
market pays huge amounts of money to these
facilities that offer nothing but a "quick
fix" diet with no exercise element. Think
about how much profit a credible, well balanced
exercise and nutrition package will produce.
We have developed our own line of nutritional
tools under the name PACE Weight-Management
Program to offer just such a turn-key system
to your clients in a six, eight or twelve
week plan. These short term members will enjoy
quick and significant results and typically
75-80% of these members will convert into
full service memberships or one-on-one personal
training. One very club which was very successful
in promoting this type of program sold over
500 new memberships in the first month !
Group Personal Training:
Sounds like a contradiction in terms, doesn't
it? Not so with PACE. A PACE instructor can
effectively be a personal trainer to 10,12
even 20 people at the same time without compromising
safety or the important "personal touch".
One such PACE Trainer/Owner says "Its a no-brainer.
I can charge $50.00 an hour for one-on-one
training or offer a discount and charge $35.00
each for 10-12 people working out in a group
with PACE. $350 for a half hour PACE class
is a lot more than $50.00 an hour! PACE also
provides the camaraderie of a group which
many of my senior and deconditioned clients
enjoy as much as the fitness benefits". A
PACE Group Personal Training Program will
increase the earning potential of your employees
and put more profit dollars in your wallet
!
Senior/Kids/Specialty Groups:
Don't ignore these potential profit centers!
These niche markets can now be serviced safely
and effectively with PACE. PACE is a perfect
no-impact, no peer pressure program for seniors,
kids and rehab patients alike. Because PACE's
unique hydraulic resistance accommodates to
the effort of the user, anyone at any fitness
level can do PACE-and get great results! PACE
is very similar to aquatics; the faster one
moves the hydraulic fluid, the greater the
resistance. No swimsuits necessary! Many clubs
use PACE as their kids program as a fitness
"musical chairs". No fixed load against growing
bones or weights to drop on little fingers.
